Pendulum Club or Colette Houston — which is better for couples?
My wife and I are ready to try our first club in Houston. We've narrowed it down to Pendulum Club and Colette Houston. Which one is better for a couple in their mid-30s who is new to this? We want upscale but not snobby.

Both are great but they serve different moods. Colette Houston is the more polished, upscale option — enforced dress code, modern decor, great dance floor, and the Colette brand carries a certain standard. It attracts a well-dressed crowd and the atmosphere feels like a high-end lounge that happens to have play areas. Pendulum Club is more established and has a more relaxed, community-oriented vibe. The space is large with multiple rooms, and the crowd is diverse in every sense. For a first visit as a couple in your mid-30s, I'd actually recommend Colette first — the atmosphere is a bit more structured which helps when you're nervous. Then try Pendulum once you've got your feet wet.

We started at Pendulum and still love it. It's less pretentious than Colette and the regulars are incredibly welcoming to new couples. The staff remembers your name after one visit. Colette is great too but can feel a bit exclusive. Pendulum feels like walking into a friend's party. Go on a Saturday for the best crowd.
Honestly you can't go wrong with either. We alternate and enjoy both for different reasons. Colette for date nights when we want to dress up; Pendulum for when we want to let loose and feel at home. If I had to pick ONE for total beginners, Colette edges it out — the structure and dress code make it feel safer for first-timers.
